I think the message is supposed to be “you should be more understanding of different cultures.” My takeaway was what the hell kind of mother puts herself in that situation? I mean seriously? Why would you travel/move somewhere with a baby where you don’t speak the language and don’t appear to know anyone who does?
My takeaway was “What kind of nurse doesn’t realize something is terrible wrong when a panicking mother tries to shove her baby at you? TAKE THE DAMN BABY!”
Its a fallacy, all hospitals are awash with interpreters, and there are networks where nurses and doctors can conference call between the patient and somebody who speaks even the most obscure dialect.
Also +1 to Erin, even the worst hospital in the world can do basic triage even without any spoken word.
So its more “Progressive” pulling of heart strings without any basis of fact or logic.
I would have scribbled 105.2 on a piece of paper. It is all that would be needed to start.
Even touching my forehead and then the baby’s forehead and acting like it was too hot to touch.

I don’t know why she is there, but she is. Unfortunately she is ill equipped to parent her child. She expects someone else to be there to understand her using the language that she knows. If she were even slightly adaptive she could still help her baby by altering how she communicates.

Let’s spend money to let them continue being stupid. Let’s put a
program in place to allow perpetual stupidity. :-/

I was immediately put off by her being obnoxious and pushing the old man aside (even before the “point” of the commercial became clear). There is also the question of what was the old man talking to the nurse about? Was the old man finally getting his turn with the triage nurse?
At least she didn’t do the whole eye-roll and harrumph, “What, you don’t speak ENGLISH?”
Maybe I’m a bit jaded by cryin babies : Crying baby with an elevated temp = passive & active cooling measures, oral -or- suppository antipyretics.
