If the right has a protest movement, the potential for violence must be trumpeted on every evening newscast for weeks.
If the left has a protest movement, the actual violence must be downplayed, dismissed, obfuscated, or blamed on agent provocateurs.

The whole “agent provocateur” thing has always baffled me. IF (and it’s a big IF) the police/etc took part in such activities, a major contributor to their being able to do so is the protestors’ acceptance of people hiding their faces and their failure to eject the black bloc.
But I suppose it’s much easier to whine about your protest being subverted (by the police or by violent actors within your movement) than to do something about it.
