Apparently, I never made a post about the attempted mass shooting at a church literally around the corner from me back in 2017. At least the member of the congregation was able to hold the asshole until the cops arrived. Unlike the shooting at the Waffle House near me in 2018, where they didn’t catch for over a day, and the cops banged on my door looking for him.
I live in an otherwise quiet part of town, I swear.
Anyways, apparently, the church shooter is currently on trial, and the prosecution has submitted into evidence a note found in his car. It stated why he did it and what he was planning on doing. Namely, that shooting this church was in retaliation for the shooting up of a black church in South Carolina, and that he was planning on killing “at least 10 white church goers.“
Now… I don’t go to that church, but they are my neighbors. Do you really think that would have stopped him had he come across me after fleeing?
Like I said, I do actually live in a fairly quiet neighborhood, but I think I’ll keep armed, keep my head on a swivel, and… it’s been a couple years since I’ve taken a trauma class… I should sign up for another.
