A while back, I wrote about the stupidity of Metro Nashville’s opinion that they can still ban guns at concerts in parks because… uh… going to a concert isn’t recreation.
Well, the state Attorney General has put out and opinion that states that no, they can’t do that.
Nashville Metro’s Legal Director’s response? “We’re going to continue to ban guns anyways.”
He even says that someone’s going to have to sue before the city considers changing it’s mind.
It’s only, you know, state law. Nothing much.
Sounds like a job for Leonard… And by that I mean anyone other than Leonard.
Hey, taking their cue from our current president. If you don’t like a law that Congress passes, ignore it.
What’s the penalty clause for violating this law?
Florida had much the same problem of localities ignoring the state preemption on gun laws until some teeth were put into them making the violators personally responsible for the violations and making it illegal to use public funds for their defense.
Unfortunately, there really isn’t a penalty clause.
