All of these things cost more money than leaving it alone. In some cases, the federal government intentionally shut down things that actually make money to make a political point.
They’re already shutting down the shoulder of the interstate in South Dakota.
How long before Obama decides that the Interstate Highway System needs to close? It needs maintenance, too, you know.

The question is really *why* they are in violation of that contract. My level/lack of sympathy depends on the circumstances.
That being said, this administration is being highly petty.
How about we put a poison pill in the budget: put the Careless and Unaffordable Act back in, but also eliminate the entire NFA, the remainder of the GCA (including import restrictions, sporting purposes tests, the FFL system, and the bans on interstate sale of firearms.), and codify nationwide constitutional carry.
