Interesting find in my grandfather’s dresser

By | June 28, 2012

This last weekend, my grandparents moved from the home they lived in for 50 years to an assisted living facility near my mother’s house. As a part of that, I got a couple of pieces of furniture that they bought when their house was new. A couple of days later I went to go put clothes in the dresser we got, and I found this:

Neat! And it was full, too!

I’ve never seen copper shell casings before. I’ve heard of CBs, but i didn’t realize they looked like this:

Neat find. I wouldn’t shoot them out of a semi-auto, which is all I have. (And no, they’re not worth anything. I checked.)

Conveniently, you do have a buddy that has a .22 revolver, .22 lever action, and a .22 bolt action if you wanted to try them out. I’d be interested to see how they compare to the CCI .22 Quiets I picked up last week,

Very loud in a short barrel pistol – not the supersonic crack of a 22LR, but plenty of BANG!

hmmmm…..made for .22 caliber shooting gallery rifles? my old man had some of these that were older than him, and they were labeled for gallery guns. again, they were worthless. but went bang regardless.

I’ve shot crows with the very similar BB caps. Very quiet out of a rifle, not much louder than a blank cap.

If they’ll load (sometimes they will and sometimes they won’t) from the magazine, you can shoot them from a semi-auto. They won’t cycle the action, so you’ll have to do that yourself.

My Ruger pistol and rifle won’t work with them, but my Buckmark will. And,surprisingly, my Marlin Lever action will too.

CCI still makes CB’s. nice and quiet out of a bolt action rifle. good for back yard pests without annoying the neighbors.
